How to Adjust Lighting at Home

Interior lighting is the finishing touch that can improve aesthetics so that the house is more pleasing to the eye. At night, the exterior lighting helps to liven up the look while keeping the house safe.

Basically, there are two types of lighting that can be used as a source of lighting at home, namely natural lighting obtained from sunlight and artificial lighting produced from lamps or candles. This time Kania will discuss what types of artificial lighting each room needs.

Lighting in the Living Room

The type of lighting applied to this room depends on the area and arrangement of the furniture. In a living room that is large enough to allow for area division, general/ambience lighting is placed in the area that is the center of gathering.

Choose a lamp with a medium light intensity so that it creates a warm and intimate impression. In each corner can be added a layer of lighting from floor lamps and table lamps.

Living Room Corner Lighting

Whereas in a living room that is not too big, light can be reflected towards the ceiling or wall so that the room seems wider. In addition, use general lighting that is able to distribute light evenly.

The lighting game can be created through wall lamps that focus on highlighting elements that are the focal point of the room or living room decorations that give a certain impression.

Lighting in the Kitchen

The kitchen requires maximum centralized lighting for continuous cooking activities. Place task lighting in the form of spotlights or halogen lights at the bottom of the kitchen cabinets in the kitchen set, pointing directly to the work area (counter top). For cooking safety, also add task lighting on the stove and oven.

If there is another work area such as a kitchen island, then install a chandelier right above it. Try not to install lights that point directly to the access area or where the user is mobilizing because it can create distracting shadows while cooking.

The dining room does not require complicated lighting arrangements. Simply provide a chandelier or chandelier that produces central lighting above the table. Adjust the high and low lights according to the impression you want to display.

If there is a dark corner of the room, a table lamp with dim light can be added as a light as well as a lighting accent.
